Brown: 1lb ground beef, 1 chopped large onion, 1 chopped red bell pepper, 3 - 4 minced garlic cloves
Add: 1 cup beans(kidney, pinto), 1 cup cooked brown rice, ½ - 1 cup liquid (bean liquid or water), 1 T pepper, 2 tsp oregano, 3 tsp basil, 1 – 2 T unfiltered organic cider vinegar, salt to taste
Simmer to desired consistency, or add water as needed.
What did you use for the chili taste? I usually use ground ancho chili. I've never made chili without tomatoes, either. This sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI can't explain it. It just tasted that way to me. Perhaps the amount of oregano and basil. I guessed this recipe. I did add quite a bit. Then the Braggs cider vinegar just added a twist. It was good.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really good, like maybe an Italian beef recipe. I bet you could try those same seasonings in the crock pot with a roast and it would be really good, too.
